Al Qaeda in Iraq despairs

So sad for them:

On Sept. 25, the U.S. military killed an Al Qaida chief deemed responsible for transporting foreign operatives to Iraq. The Al Qaida commander, identified as Abu Osama Al Tunisi, was killed in a U.S. air strike as he met his colleagues in Musayib, about 60 kilometers south of Baghdad.

Shortly before he died, Al Tunisi wrote a letter that warned of a threat to Al Qaida operations in Karkh. The lettter, found by the U.S. military, sought guidance from Al Qaida leaders amid coalition operations that hampered Al Tunisi's network.

"We are so desperate for your help," the letter read.

As of this writing, it is hard to find a major American newspaper that has picked up news of the "desperation" letter, but Al-Jazz and the Tehran Times are all over it. Of course, they probably do not care if the Democrats win next year.

Actually, I'd be willing to bet they're both deeply invested in the Democrats winning next year. I would be if I were them, since there are no French on the ballot.

This reminds me of the Zarqawi letter to Zawahiri that was intercepted where he said that his greatest fear was that the US would be able to train and develop enough Iraqi security and military forces to battle his own forces. That these indigenous forces would, unlike the Americans, be better able to track his forces down.
My hunch is that the next Iraqi leader will come through the military. Hopefully, attaining power democratically. Interesting that I've heard no names. But there's someone out there, I'm sure.

Actually, anonymous I, the Bush administration has done so many goods things for Iran, you can imagine their joyous hullahs if only another Republican administration would follow.

What does it say that I have more respect for and confidence in the Tehran Times than the New York Times?
