Battle at Kruger

What do you get when you cross a herd of caped buffalo, a pride of lions, and two crocs at the watering hole? A dramatic 8 minute clip that is not to be missed.

I'm sure you'd be happier if someone tossed Mugabe into the middle of that. hahaha

It would have to be at Kruger, then, because Zimbabwe's outstanding wildlife resources are being devastated by poaching, drought and mismanagement.

Did that young Cape Buffalo actually walk away from that mauling by lions and the croc? That is what I saw, though perhaps it's injuries were more severe. Shows something about lions. They kill by strangulation, cutting off air with a bite to the neck. The Croc got a good grip on the haunches but wasn't able to kill its victim by drowning. As for the revenge of the herd, the lions had their backs to the water and the one that got tossed probably isn't doing too well.

The return of the herd was one of the most fascinating aspects of this. I've watched a lot lion kill scenes over the years, and the herd dissipates. You don't see zebras and gazelles go get help and then come back and beat down the lions.

Given Mugabe's long history of being a mass murdering commie, that's not a bad idea.

By Blogger Dawnfire82, at Fri Jun 08, 06:36:00 PM:

That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. Thanks!

I think the communists would be pretty upset by that. I don't think you can categorize him as a commie. There's sub-genre applicable to many of the post-liberation African presidents-for-life that defies any categories. Indeed, I'd bet if Lenin had come back to life he would have had another stroke when he saw what Stalin was doing.

Screw the commies, and screw Mugabe.

They completely wrecked that country when there was no cause to. The Smith govt was already in the process of a 2-year phased transfer of power when Mugabe and company decided to toss a match into the powder stores.

I'm not surprised you defend him though. Leftists always love mass graves and Mugabe certainly has produced his share of them.

Purple Avenger - I think Christopher Chambers was commenting on my post in another thread, and I agree that "post-liberation African presidents-for-life" have their own unique "sub-genre." There is, however, a tendency in the academy, populated by professors well-schooled in dialectical materialism, and convinced that Europeans and their decendents turn everything they touch into crap, to blame the entire world's problems on Western hegemony of one sort of another. My point is that people have the ability to turn things into crap (or not, thankfully) regardless of what race they are, without any help from outsiders. A Mugabe can happen even in a non-post-colonial setting.

Chavez has ended his warm up tosses and is coming out of the bullpen right now...

I can hear the diesel motors of the bulldozers starting up. The trenches will be dug and awaiting their contents in a short matter of months.

In 5 years we won't be able to tell VE and Zimbabwe apart.

Remarcable on quite a few levels:
1. They have (at least) short term memory of both the event and their emotional state,
2. They were able to retain both for a time to run away and than return,
3. They were able to plan a resque mission,
4. They were able to communicate their intention and persuade the herd to join,
5. They were able to execute a winning assault, etc.
I am not sure that humans with an IQ around 80 and below will be able to do something like that.
