Was the election a mandate for withdraw from Iraq?
Er, no. Or at least not necessarily. Tom Maguire explains rather pointedly why it can't have been.

Just look at the close races that were lost. Very few had anything to do with Iraq, and much more to do with (R) candidates that shot themselves in the foot for a lengthy laundry list of locally relevant issues.
