Redbuds
It is redbud season in Princeton. Up close, they look like this:

Beautiful. My favorite time of year is when the buds and blossoms come out. Fortunately here in N. California that is around Valentine's Day. There is no other greenery, only a blizzard of white flowers.

Here in eastern Nebraska an early warming period in late March/early April brought the redbuds out -- and then a week of temperatures as low as the 20s almost wiped them out. What would have been a flush equal to what you depict turned out to be a weak flicker of violet.

Cool. Our redbud all bloomed the first week in April. Here's something I bet you didn't know: the flowers are edible. Apparently the mountain folk used to eat the blossoms fried (hmmmm, fried...) but they are tasty right off the branch. Try them in a salad sometime.
