As Jan Morris notes, they are "Nobly impervious to the frivolities of time"

See this article in Thursday's Philadelphia Inquirer regarding the efforts of tigers in the Philadelphia Zoo, written in what is apparently a salacious pseudo-pornographic style! As one of the local area Princeton alums who made a donation to fund the building of the new "Big Cat House" at the zoo, I am not sure how to feel about the style of the article, and that it was not written as a straight news story. Oh well. Maybe I am just jealous that there would have been very little indeed to report on my sex life during my underclass years in Tigertown (1977-79).
