Executing Saddam: Just another ministerial act

I'm sure Saddam won't be looking at his hanging quite this way:

Iraq was preparing for the rapid execution of former dictator Saddam Hussein, with the US-backed government eager to bring his chapter in the country's bloody history to an end.

Justice Minister Hashem al-Shibli said Wednesday the sentence for crimes against humanity -- upheld by am Iraqi appeal court on Tuesday -- would be sent to the presidency for approval while the prison service prepares to hang him.

The process will get underway rapidly, he said, but the formality of executing the ousted dictator could be delayed by the onset of the four-day Eid al-Adha holiday, which is due to start at the end of the week.

You know what's disgusting?

Follow the link to the Breitbart article. You will find the sentence:

"Saddam and two officials of his regime were convicted of crimes against humanity on November 5,
after a court heard they ordered the deaths of 148 Shiite men from the village of Dujail in an
act of collective punishment."

The words "collective punishment" are highlighted. If you move the cursor over the highlighted
words, you get a popup box that reads:

Switzerland: Israel Violating Law in Gaza 07/03/2006

That's right. Whoever put this story online chose to add a link connecting Saddam's massacre
with an article criticizing Israel.

Talk about bias.

Who besides me, thinks that the President won't ok the hanging order?

Or that violence in some shape will make the execution be delayed.

Or how about another escape?

Or some other mischief.

Saddam is far from dead.

Fascinating that the execution is timed to take place just before Bush's State of the Union address.

No, not fascinating. Not even surprising.

Executions really bring out the kooky readers, eh Hawk?

Dawnfire says it's not even surprising that the Bush administration would orchestrate internal Iraqi affairs for his own political gain. That's abhorrent.

Dawnfire doesn't mind that Iraqi sovereignty is a fiction. He just likes the smell of blood in the morning. And MR. ALL CAPS CUCKOOBANANAS thinks pro-life folks are somehow bleeding from the heart.

Well then, explain why, if it would be SO surprising, that you predicted such an act? Psychic powers?

It looks like you're wrong, by the way.

You have got to be bi-polar or otherwise fucked in the head. You swing from rational and normal to batshit crazy rants to morbidly accusative way too easily. What business do you have as a childrens' therapist? I hope you aren't representative of the profession.

Or maybe I've learned why today's youth likes to cut themselves, share blood, mope, and talk about pain and death so much...

Oh yeah. And in case you weren't aware, hanging doesn't tend to spill blood. It causes death by asphyixiation or by breaking the neck.

Though I do love the scent of it. Goes well with cornflakes. Yummy. I think I'll go find a small animal to torture, preferably one which is guilty of using chemical weapons to massacre its citizens and has a morbid fascination with the effects of power tools on the human body.
