David Zucker's "scary" ad
Charles Johnson passes along Matt Drudge's report that the GOP is not going to use a vicious -- but hilarious -- ad mocking Secretary of State Albright and the Clinton Administration's policy. Probably because it rips off Team America. Anyway, I can't embed the ad because it has been flagged as "inappropriate," but you can see it at Little Green Footballs. Run over there before YouTube caves in to their Google overlords and takes it down.
Among people who pay close attention to such things, there will undoubtedly be no end of tut-tutting about the Republicans using "fear" for political purposes (notwithstanding the decision not to run the ad, which may have been based on taste, rather than a blue-nosed opposition to fear as a campaign device). Fair enough. But let's just remember that Democrats invented the scary political ad:
It is not obvious that Zucker's ad is less principled than Lyndon Johnson's smear of Barry Goldwater, even if it is not nearly as elegant.
