Damning with Plame praise

Nothing surprises us anymore, not even the cynicism of Valerie Plame, who has snagged a $2.5 million advance to write her memoir. Scooter Libby, or Dick Cheney, or whomever, seems to have done her a huge favor, not just financially, but socially.

Just guessing here, but it seems to me that Plame's publisher is paying her more for one book than she probably earned in salary during her entire career at the CIA. The publisher, though, knows a good storyteller when he sees one:

The book, whose working title is "Fair Game," [at least she admits it. - ed.] is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2007 by Crown Publishing, an imprint of Random House. Steve Ross, senior vice president and publisher of Crown, said the book would be Ms. Wilson's "first airing of her actual role in the American intelligence community, as well as the prominence of her role in the lead-up to the war."...

[Ross] said Ms. Wilson had submitted a detailed 50-page proposal with outlines and sample material for each chapter. "We were all astonished at the richness of her storytelling," he said. Rick Horgan, vice president and executive editor at Crown, will edit Ms. Wilson's book.

I daresay.

The richness of her husband's storytelling is astonishing too.

The traitorous nature of sell-out republican operatives back-fires again. If we had been standing up for what we believe in instead of taking the low road this never could have happened.

Soon to be followed by Amb. Wilson's memiors, How to Lie About Your Political Opponents for Fun and Profit. It is worth remembering that, but for Wilson's profoundly dishonest op-ed in NYT, Plame would not be having this payday.

This makes me extremely angry.
