The world's tallest buildings in a single skyline

Cool. Make sure you enlarge the picture and take a close look. Eight of the top ten are in Asia. There are no European buildings in the top ten, and the only American buildings to crack that ceiling are Sears (at 4th) and Empire State (at 9th). I've worked in both of them.

Just happened to be looking at this, too, before visiting you today.

Where I live (greater Dubai-Sharjah) we have lots of these buildings (examine the image). And the Burj Dubai tower under construction is projected to be the tallest building in the world. World's tallest hotel is slated for completion in 2009. Yada yada.

The slightly dated photobanner here, One Big Construction Site, gives you some idea of the skyline as it looks currently in one part of Dubai.

Tall buildings are the wave of the past. In places where reclaimed land is economically viable they have a future. All I see are big soft targets: hard to evacuate, easy to hit.

A very cool image, but it seems pretty badly out of proportion. The Hancock looks like it's at least as tall as, if not taller than, the Sears Tower, which anyone who has been to Chicago can tell you isn't the case.
