More Fallaci: On the origins of "Condoleezza"
"Con dolcezza" (two separate words) is one of the Italian terms employed by composers for indicating the interpretation that executors should give to a bar or to a phrase or to a page or to the whole score. It means "With sweetness." Ms. Rice doesn't use the name Condolcezza (one single word) she was given by her music-lover parents. She uses the mispelled version which was written by the not music-lover clerk who registered her birth at Birmingham, Alabama, muncipality: Condoleezza. Thus, mine is not a typographical error. It is the liberty I take in never calling her Condoleezza. Despite her toughness (thank God a toughness almost as tough as mine), I take to call her in the Italian way: Condolcezza. Withsweetness.
