What Could Make the New York Times Criticize the UN?

The rather brutal assassination of a newspaper publisher, I guess.

Could the New York Times editorial board be positioning for a coalition to take action against Syria without UN authorization?

Oh crap. Give Nick Kristoff a day or so and it will all the The Shrub's fault... heh.

The NYT didn't have anything to say when the Arab League "investigated" the killing in Darfur and advised the UN not to impose any sanctions or call it genocide after months of blistering editorials calling it... umm... genocide.

Or when the UN commemorated the Holocaust without somehow ever mentioning Israel (why was it Israel was created again????) once, but Palestine was mentioned over 40 times.

Sometimes the UN becomes too surreal for words. And then I just have another drink.
