Carpetbombing Paul Krugman

You have to wonder why The New York Times doesn't assign some intern to do a little basic background work on Paul Krugman's columns. At some point, even Bill Keller has to worry that people will think he does not care about quality control.

It's not to hard to dismantle Krugman. He hands you the tools. But then if you look at a lot of his books, you'll find his penchant for predicting catastrophe incorrectly is stupendous. He has proven to be even less accurate than a stopped watch, whcih afterall is right twice a day.

Krugman has crossed the line from partisan to deranged; from irritating to hilarious. He can't be taken seriously. But then, none of the NYT op-ed writers has kept their senses. They have left this planet. Frank Rich, Maureen Dowd, Bob Herbert and Krugman are just plain wrong every single day they write. I can't remember the last time I agreed with anything they said. Tom Friedman, Kristol and Brooks do occasionally detach from the monotone of partisan blather and speak cowardly, uncommitted sense. Sadly, Safire is gone. The other guys are just impossible to read from the title on down. They should write for Le Monde or Pravda or something...and move there.
