Stanislav Petrov
Donald Sensing writes that if you are alive today it may be because of Stanislav Petrov, the forgotten hero of the Cold War. He ignored standing orders to fire ICBMs at the United States "on launch," and thereby avoided global catastrophe. Unbelievable.
