The figurative degradation of Michael Jackson

Check out this photographic history of Michael Jackson's face. The progression of Jackson's face from handsome to monstrous resulted from the intersection of great wealth, twisted narcissism, the end of shame, and the transforming power of aesthetic surgery.

For better or for worse, within the next generation it will be common for people in wealthy countries to order up changes their own physical appearance in very dramatic ways. Whether they end up uglier will be more a function of their good or bad taste and sense of their own appearance than the skill of their surgeon.

Even If I was a drunk eight year old that would still creep me out! Money can't buy you love or in MJ's case a decent face.

Oh, lord, I wish you hadn't posted that. It reminds me of that sequence in the Rod Taylor "Time Machine" where he speeds into the future with a body rotting next to him. Not nice.
