Be afraid, be very afraid: Does John Kerry have the inside track for State?

John Kerry, supposedly, has been telling associates that he has an "understanding" with Barack Obama that he will become Secretary of State. Is it important in that job to know where Cambodia is?

Anyway, all hope is not lost. The Obama administration might also tap Strobe Talbot for Foggy Bottom. Why? Because he is a Rhodes Scholar:

Mr. Talbott, who served as No. 2 in the Clinton state department, would be easier to control. He also heads the Brookings Institution, home to several other Obama advisers, and (like several Obama associates) also happens to be a Rhodes Scholar. "That seems to count a lot for those people," says one prominent Democrat.

For better or for worse (and it is not all for the worse), we are back to worshiping gold-plated academic credentials. Presumably that is bad news for John Kerry, who we only belatedly learned had slightly worse grades at Yale than George W. Bush. That ought to give the Obama administration's Director of Admissions some pause.

Say what you will about John F Kerryman's grades or about Dubya's, at least they have been released.Ditto Dubya's and Gore's SAT scores. To the best of my knowledge, none of ∅bama's grades or scores have been released. This is symptomatic of what we know about ∅bama's past: most of it comes from the approved version, from his books.

Kerry as Secretary of State: I react to that they way some liberals posting here would react to Sarah Palin heading the National Science Foundation.

I like the idea of Senator Kerry as Secretary of State. I think he has the qualification, experience and rapour with Senator Obama to get the important things we need to get accomplished around the world.
As for "the grades" matter. There grades are very similar and what is not apparent in the grade numbers is the fact that Kerry grades his first year were low because of sports involvements and other activities such as learning to fly aircraft.
On the other hand, Bush's grades were mediocre throught his time in college- he was a partier and a goof-off.
So you can see, the numbers don't tell the entire story.
Oh, and the latter comments on grades is directed to Boludo Tejano.

Talbot, "a key architect of U.S. foreign policy" in the Clinton Admin, fucked up the Soviet transition, his alleged area of expertise, big time.

The effete and feckless Kerry would do little harm among the entrenched bureaucratic muddle-heads at Foggy Bottom; but Talbot could be deadly.

I *do* see. When Democrats get higer grades, it's because they're smarter, when Republicans get higher grades there's some other devious reason.

"he [Bush] was a partier and a goof-off"

... and *still* got higher grades than Kerry, our future SoS?!? He must be some kinda genius! Sounds like me when I went to college.
