I lost interest whan Kevin Moore left but I was glad to hear that Mike Portnoy is gone now. This WAS a great album!

I learned about them in 2005, so I never knew them when Kevin Moore was in the band. But Mike Portnoy was a fantastic drummer, and the band will be very different without him. I'm just kinda sad I never got to see them live. I would have liked to have seen the 12-Step Suite performed in its entirety at some point.

I haven't followed them recently but a friend of mine in college suggested them to me right before Images and Words was released. They filmed the video for 'Pull Me Under' at the Avalon (now gone) in Chicago which was basically an old apartment turned into a bar/music venue. Even back then they were far too big a band to play that venue I thought. I think it was the best live show I've seen in the ratio of band to venue size. I don't think there were 100 people there.
, atWell, I never would have taken TH for a DT fan! Interesting. Images was the album that hooked me on them for a while, too. I don't follow them closely, though, and have only seen them live once, here in Albany. It happens that "Learning to Live" is also one of my favorites from their repertoire.
