But was she wearing a short skirt?
Justice, Saudi style:
JEDDAH – A 23-year-old unmarried woman was awarded one-year prison term and 100 lashes for committing adultery and trying to abort the resultant fetus.
The District Court in Jeddah pronounced the verdict on Saturday after the girl confessed that she had a forced sexual intercourse with a man who had offered her a ride. The man, the girl confessed, took her to a rest house, east of Jeddah, where he and four of friends assaulted her all night long.
The girl claimed that she became pregnant soon after and went to King Fahd Hospital for Armed Forces in an attempt to carry out an abortion. She was eight weeks’ pregnant then, the hospital confirmed.
According to the ruling, the woman will be sent to a jail outside Jeddah to spend her time and will be lashed after delivery of her baby who will take the mother’s last name.
No, all Muslims do not believe in whipping rape victims. Perhaps most don't. But Saudi Arabia sits at the geographical and spiritual center of Islam. If this sort of thing happened in Rome or Jerusalem in the name of God is there any doubt that Christians and Jews around the world would rebel and try to force a change? Why is that not happening in Islam? Is it because Muslims in other countries do not see it as a problem worth addressing, or is it because they are afraid of retaliation? What would be the third explanation?
Release the hounds.

The simple truth is most muslims actively support this form of law and punishment. The vast majority of muslim nations and majority muslim nations have horrible laws for women and backwards sense of justice. They wish to impose it upon others if given the opportunity.
A large minority won't even wait for an opportunity, they would force it on us as an alternative to death.
Forget the short skirt. It's her own damn fault if she was wearing anything more provocative than a burqa.

Lucky girl...at least her family didn't throw acid in her face in the name of God.
Barbarians.

Saudi Muslims are one breed of cat. Egyptian Muslims seem to be a different breed. (Link just now found at Maggie's Farm, btw.) The linked story agrees well with my experience of Muslims in Egypt when I was there.
Anyone care to compare American Baptist Christians to Turkish Eastern Orthodox Christians, just to pick an example out of the air?
Local culture means more than global religion, I'm thinking. Though it may be true that there are more primitive Muslim cultures than than there are primitive Christian cultures, I wouldn't care to make that generalization myself without more research.
Seven will get you eleven that C.A.I.R. will not protest this travesty of justice.

Sirius, you are mistaken, sir.
Sharia law recognizes no exception for even the most modest and devout burqa-wearing woman.
Unless she has four adult male muslims who actually witnessed the attack, she's guilty of adultery.
Three adult male muslims, a hundred adult male christians, and ten thousand modest and devout burqa-wearing women could all bear witness to the violent rape, and she would still have no defense.

I believe if I were a woman in that circumstance, I would prefer to have one adult male Texan as the witness. That way the testimony would go somewhat like "That feller over there with all the holes in him just wuldn't take no for an answer..."

"Release the hounds."
Muhammad said that dogs are unclean - that no angel will enter a room containing a dog.
Your "hounds" comment, then, is pure hate speech. How many more must die so that you can be "free" to spread your hate?

"Muhammad said that dogs are unclean"
I will forgo comments about people who wipe their butts with their hand complaining about dogs...only to say that people who dislike dogs are not to be trusted.
