Churchill's Revenge

It was widely reported that shortly after Obama's inauguration, he returned a bust of Winston Churchill, which had been given to his predecessor to keep in the Oval Office, by Tony Blair. Some observers wondered whether this constituted poor form on the part of the new President. He compounded the questions of the new White House Administrations social graces by providing, shall we say, pretty light gifts to Gordon Brown and the Queen.

It would be ironic in the extreme if British Petroleum was a central part of Obama's political undoing. And today, from where we sit this morning, the picture in the Gulf is very, very bad.

But Obama, like Al Haig before him, is "in charge here."

Do we call it the "Obama Spill," or the "Obama Slick."

Are you in the gulf or near it? Or just reporting what you hear on the news?

I was on the fence on McCain vs. Obama. I finally voted McCain, and many events since then have confirmed the rightness of that vote. Removing Churchill's bust just infuriates me. The man was a moral and military hero, a giant, and the survival of Western democracy is due in no small part to him. I was infuriated when Obama snubbed Churchill and Great Britain in this way -- clearly, he doesn't represent me.
