To big too fail
Harsh, but funny. Unless you are a McCain partisan. And even then.

McCain and Stewart were once a lovey-dovey Odd Couple. McCain may still hold the record for most appearances on The Daily Show, despite having had none during the 2008 campaign.
In 2008, the "Maverick" meme was all McCain could come up with to distance himself from Bush. By walking away from the label in a 2010 Republican primary, McCain's trying to say that he's been a party loyalist and true Conservative all along. You may or may not agree with him.
Stewart's riff on this meaning that McCain has "sold his soul" went on too long and was too personal. There's more to this than a comedy bit. It's the result of a bitter divorce. I'd love to have the inside story -- it's be revealing about bigger things.
I once thought Stewart might lead on the turn on Obama. Back in February it looked like he was starting. It's not happening. My money is now on South Park.
Stewart's hits on Obama in February were mild -- but Stewart got sent a message: The One is off limits. So Stewart has to know that he's been comedically compromised. He ain't the man he used to be. So who's the one who sold his soul? Re: his bit on McCain ... can you say "transference."
There are no jesters in Obama's court. Beware the man who can't laugh at himself.
