I, too, am light-skinned

Late to link to this, but Harry Reid is a true moron, and the press is giving him a pass. Because he's a Donk.

Big news: Obama was quoted saying,

"The Democrat Party itself has to drive out Bill Clinton and Harry Reid. If we have to stand for something, the party will have to stand up and say these are not the people we want representing our party."

Oh wait... that quote was what he said about Trent Lott...

Well, I'm sure he'll say the same thing about these guys. He's no hypocrite.

I am willing to give Reid a pass as well. It was a private conversation. This is what reinforces Political Correctness. Every time someone says something even close to 'out of bounds' they get hammered for it. It is why politically correct speech has progressed as far as it has. There can be no free exchange of ideas in this country anymore lest someone says something 'offensive'. And once the speech parameters are set, then the insane government policies can follow. It is high time people shrugged off comments like this and moved on.

Anyone could be attracted to people who speak the "King's English" and sound as if they earned their credentials. Further, noticing peoples' different origins is Sherlockian not racist.

However, in Obama's case, one should not assume that intelligence confers wisdom.

If we fail to use the latest approved nickname for African-Americans, then we are racists.

If we fail to tolerate ghetto English, or fail to glorify this cultural ball-and-chain with the asinine term "Eubonics", then we are racists.

If we even mention that light skinned blacks who use good syntax are the objects of riducule in urban black culture, then we are racists.

Personally, the time has long passed where I can put up with this crap.

If they aren't interested in joining American society, then so be it. We all have cultural crosses to bear, and those who bear the burden and yet still seek to excel have my deep respect. The rest are just parasites.
