Did you tour the restored WWII vintage submarine? That was fascinating.

Best street musicians outside of Memphis.

I've heard some pretty awesome street musicians in New Orleans, too.

I grew up in San Francisco. I left so long ago that calling it "Frisco" was considered offensive.
Now I don't care.

Scomas is a venerable seafood house that in it's heyday had a second restaurant across the bay in Sausalito, now closed. Is it still worth a visit?

I think artists and journalists still call it Frisco.

"Frisco"
Only tourists call it Frisco.

P.S.
"Don't Call It Frisco" is the title of a 1953 book by the late, great Herb Caen.

I lived in the Bay Area for 3 years. People there called San Francisco "San Fran" or the "City" (so much so that the logo of the Golden State Warriors had a likeness of the Golden Gate Bridge with "The City" written underneath it), but never Frisco. It does make you look like a tourist, but no more so than eating at a restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf. It's a great food city, so how did you end up there?

Re "Frisco" - I knew that, but I like alliteration and the next word was "Photos."

"Is it still worth a visit?"
I live in the Bay Area and went there a couple of years ago with some relatives visiting from out of town. Still good but a bit on the tourist-pricey side.

Also, while I don't have direct evidence not having visited Sausalito in years, Scoma's is apparently still thriving there (www.scomassausalito.com and search engine reviews).

TH: "Oh, and I am a tourist."
That's so provincial, TH. You should consider every major business center -- from New York and London to Tokyo and San Francisco -- your home.
