Business opportunity
In searching for a protective case for my new Kindle, I note that the entry price for a Kindle 2 case seems to be $24.99, which is a lot of money for a gizmo condom. Never mind the Cole Haan Hand-Woven Patent Leather Kindle Cover for $119.99. Somebody out there can make some nice coin selling a basic sheath for, say, $8.99.

I use a basic ziplock bag for reading in the bathtub. Thanks to the liquid bomber plot I even had some on hand :)

Worn out beach towel + heavy carpet thread. Done. 5 minutes.

Heh, Purple, that sounds like the "redneck" Kindle reader cover, which is a hilarious concept.

I've had the boring black leather Amazon book cover one for about nine months now (I think) and it is pricey at 29.99, but protects the screen and also camouflages the kindle from thieves to look like a boring notebook. If you have the slide in envelopes, you will forget to put it back in. It lacks the "cool" factor, but the Kindle is never out of it, so it has survived drops on concrete, the floor and being carried around in a backpack and falling on the car floor (after careless teens borrow it to download unauthorized sci fi books on long trips).
