In the service of this post, it cannot hurt to reveal -- not for the first time -- that my nickname is "Jack." Well, the employees in our IT department had a pumpkin-carving contest on Friday, and one of the entrants was this "Jack" o'Lantern...
Yes, it is actually hand-carved. I do not know if it won -- there were other outstanding carvings -- but it is an excellent likeness (and now is my profile picture on Facebook). The artist gave it to me for display last night on my front stoop, and it seemed to terrify the children. As this is Princeton, I think they were worried it was meant to be George Bush.
