The guy running against Corzine is named "Chris Christie?" Ha! It sounds like a dumbass TV weatherman's moniker. Then again, "Corzine" sounds like what I just shot up my nostrils to relieve (I hope) my sinus pressure.

Anyway, even the biggest rabid racist wingnut tools who frequent this blog might want to tune in tonight (Monday) at 10pm Eastern on their local PBS channel...ok tuning into PBS might be a stretch, but TH you know how so you can teach them... to check out my Georgetown colleague Asra Nomani(under whom I also served re: our Daniel Pearl Project) in "A Mosque in Morgantown."

Here's the link to the documentary: http://www.pbs.org/weta/crossroads/about/show_mosque.html

I went to the premiere and the show's amazing. You lot will love it! Here's a teaser:

"Morgantown, West Virginia, is a university town of 30,000 nestled in the Appalachian Mountains—and the site of a brewing battle within the local mosque.

Journalist Asra Nomani glimpsed Islamic extremism up close when her dear friend and former Wall Street Journal colleague Daniel Pearl was murdered in Pakistan. When she returns home to West Virginia to raise her son, she believes she sees warning signs at the local mosque: exclusionism against women, intolerance toward non-believers, and suspicion of the West. Her resulting campaign against perceived extremism in the Islamic Center of Morgantown brings a storm of media attention, unexpectedly pitting her against the mosque’s moderates."

You'll especially love the part where Asra's on book tour in NY and two Muslim young men shout how if this (I guess the US?) was an Islamic state, she'd be hung. I spoke to Asra today and she's tickled by the way the right (including Pajamas Media blogs) and radical jewish settler-types have embraced her. Of course, the enemy of your enemy ain't ALWAYS your friend...

@"Beat back the hordes." Hordes of state employees?? Mongols, Huns??

I am getting too old for cryptic messages.

@Christopher Chambers: The teaser sounds compelling. There's a radical mosque in West Virgina??

I've heard speculation that if Corzine appears to be going down in the fall election, there might be a "draft Cory (Booker)" movement. I hope not, because Newark really needs him to stay on the job, but if he's drafted, Christie is screwed IMHO.

"Folks — I think I have never commented here before, but I must say — some of you are amazing troll feeders."

"Those of you who attempt to engage [Chrissy] are giving him exactly what he wants. It is troll heaven! As long as it goes on, he can preen that he is 'correcting' all the wingnuts — you can all aim arguments, whether well-thought-out arguments or hasty blurts, it doesn't matter — why would he change his mind or tactics? Do you expect a conversion ('Oh, my God, you are all right! What a fool I've been')? Real trolls are like one of those Star Trek creatures or the "Id monster" from "Forbidden Planet" — beings who feed on negative energy and get stronger. It really is possible not to respond."

The demographics of NJ will save Corzine.

The Democrat begins with all of the public workers votes. And the teachers and educators. And he will automatically get most of the Blacks and Jewish voters.

No matter what he does he has 30% - 40% of the votes locked. Then toss in the generally liberal college students.

Those groups are not mutually exclusive. But even so I think the GOP candidate has to take 80% of the other voters to have a chance.
