Say no to ODS

A friend emailed me the link to today's piece by David Horowitz posted at Salon (it first appeared in FrontPage Magazine). It reminds those who did not vote for President Obama in November not to fall prey to Obama Derangement Syndrome:

So what's the panic? It is true that Obama has shown surprising ineptitude in his first months in office, but he's not a zero with no accomplishments as many conservatives seem to think -- unless you regard beating the Clinton machine and winning the presidency as nothing. But in doing this you fall into the "Bush-is-an-idiot" bag of liberal miasmas.
Always good advice -- don't become what you don't like.

Read the whole thing.

The bloggers here do a great deal of snarking, criticizing and satirizing with respect to the sitting POTUS; but, at the core, I think we understand the seriousness of his job and of the times. We also lend support to him when we happen to agree with what he is doing, which may not be as often as some would like, but we call 'em as we see 'em. The underlying problem with ODS is the same as it was with BDS -- it hurts those afflicted as well as the body politic.

The Dems have leveraged BDS very nicely, meseems.

I agree. The irrational and constant disrespect for President Bush was wrong. However, it accomplished exactly what the organizers wanted, to create a general lack of respect for what Mr. Bush said or did. It would be wrong to treat Mr. Obama as badly as Mr Bush was treated, without reason.
However, the concept of ODS was not created to ensure that Mr. Obama wasn't treated as badly as Mr. Bush. It has been created to fend off any criticism of Mr. Obama or anything he says or does. Thus, the next time Mr. Obama does something that demonstrates he has no idea what he is doing or directly contradicts something he promised, OSD will be raised as a shield to fend off any criticism as in, "we won't respond to that suggestion because it is simply OSD.". We see this with "McCartyism," where leftist claim that an attempt to investigate what one of theirs actually said doesn't deserve follow through because the speaker is simply exercising McCarthyism.

· His first phone call was to Abbas, the terrorist leader of the Palestinian Authority and al Fatah;

· His first interview was on al-Arabiya News Channel, where he apologized for the United States;

· His first appointment of an envoy to Syria was the appointment of George Soros;

· He bankrolled Hamas out of Whitehouse funds to the tune of $23 million, following Israel’s invasion of Gaza to stop the missile strikes;

· He promised another 900 million to Gaza;

· He immediately adopted the Saudi Plan as policy for Israel, which favors a contiguous Palestinian state (that is, a geographic area that connects Gaza with the West Bank and includes Jerusalem – necessarily dividing Israel);

· He dismissed charges against the perpetrators of the bombing of the USS Cole;

· He announced the shut-down of Gitmo, and apologized to the Islamic world for its existence;

· He announced that his first summit would be an Islamic summit;

Get a grip, TH. Winning against a tired Clinton machine was not much of an accomplishment. The man learned his craft from Chicagoland politicians and Jeremiah Wright. In that environment there is no one who disagrees with you.

I just realized: TH can also stand for Tiger Hound. Google it.

"t would be wrong to treat Mr. Obama as badly as Mr Bush was treated, without reason."

True statement, but Americans have many, many, many reasons to treat Obama not only badly but to do everything we can to assure our representives fight him and the democrats in their quest to turn this Republic into their concept of a socialist/communistic/facist nation.

A prior poster listed many that have to do with the Muslim world that Obama seems to worship. Not even counting the fact that he just bowed his head to a "king" from the Kingdom of Saud that is the keeper of the most revered symbol of Islam.

I spit on Obama, he is not my president and will never be. Millions that voted for him will rue the day they cast their ballot,including those from democrat organizations that filled the ballot boxes with invalid, false ballots.

The worse is yet to come and there is not much we or or representives can or will do within the law.
