Election news from Chicago
Even in Chicago, even in a Democratic primary, the unions cannot deliver the vote. Perhaps even cynical Democratic politicians will realize that wrecking the economy on their behalf is not such a great idea.

In this poll, and given the example of the domestic auto industry, I would check "no, they won't realize it".

I think the more interesting thing about this race is that the Daley's declined to endorse a candidate.
Possible Reasons: Fallout from the recent confessions by Senator Roland "Tombstone" Burris? Fear that Judge Amy and Prosecutor Fitz have the phones tapped? Too busy getting their shovels ready for "shovel ready"?
Quigley has been a major irritant on the County Board so they are likely happy to see him go.
And longer term they can always try to submarine him when the national attention becomes a little less tense.
It's refreshing to read about an Illinois politician "taking the 5th" in something other than a legal context.
