Charitable deduction, part deux
During his most recent press conference, President Obama discussed at length his views on reducing the charitable deduction for those tax payers in the highest brackets.
Ben Smith at Politico blogs: "The White House heard in two meetings today from non-profit officials opposed to lowering the charity deduction for the wealthy, a move they fear would lower contributions."

, atI assume the side effect of reducing charitable deductions is intentional. Obama wants government to replace private charity.

I was thinking of this when I heard an Ad for St. Jude's Children's Medical Center which I assume takes in a lot of charitable contributions. I wonder if Zero can be shamed by the concept of stiffing St. Judes kids.wtillgah

The key phrase in Smith's post is "The White HOuse heard..." Whether the White HOuse listened or the White House understood or even that the White House cared is another matter entirely.
I happen to agree with randian. It's all about control and power.
