Bush's security gate

Lefty bloggers are in a twist over the security gate that George W. Bush has asked to be erected across the street in Dallas where he will live after January 20. May I respectfully submit that a quick scroll of the comments at Think Progress is all the justification he, or his well-to-do new neighbors, might need.

Interesting, it seems to me, how often those Bush haters are also arm in arm with those who assign a moral equivalency between Israel and Jihadists. Or Jihadists and anyone for that matter. I'm not a psychologist, but there must be a term for this. It is sickening.

The only thing more sad than the filth and ignorance in some people's minds is the fact that it no longer surprises me.

I might be the very first person to do this, but in the twilight of their careers, I see many parallels between GWB and Robert E. Lee. Both were powered by the force of their convictions and answered to moral codes that would inevitably be misunderstood. Lee was pilloried in the Northern public press after the war, with many calls for a hanging. Although GWB is no Lee, he is facing a similar retirement. I certainly hope that he finds the small peace that Lee found in his later years. I also hope that when history does eventually bestow the same kindness on Bush that it did on Lee that I will be alive to see it.

Obama is going to put a lot of attention on this 'domestic' issue of doling out increasing trillions in aid to dependent banks and wall streeters, and while he does it, and oil's low, Russia with its pals Iran and Venezuela are working to fan unrest in Gaza, Ukraine, the EU, etc.

I think we run huge risk of a terrorist event because Obama will be preoccupied, and will be seen as weak on defense. The baloney about how the world is going to love us for being open minded and putting a person of color in office, who has an African father and lived in Indonesia, etc. is going to fall face down when that happens.

Bush answered the call to deal with terrorism, and got shafted by the media. I about puked in my mouth with Reid and his kind taking shots at the administration to ring in the new Congress, or listening to Frank thru the bailout hearings. No one in the media cares to mention the Dem control for the last two years. We'll see what's said should bad things happen on their watch while controlling Congress and the White House.
