I agree that the blog is hysterical!

Does the auto industry want to become Amtrak on pneumatic tires? If they fail, we will still have cars, as many as we want, in the colors and styles we want. Somebody will pick up the pieces in Detroit and fashion a good company or two. If they don't, we'll just buy Hondas built in Talladega Alabama.

Actually, Amtrak is a subsidy that makes some sense. Few would ride the train if fares had to cover all expenses. Yet, we probably don't need to take Amtrak from Indianapolis to Pasco, Washington when one can fly there from Salt Lake City or Denver.

As for the airlines. I wish United would collapse and stop making travel miserable for its captive customers. The planes will not be cut up for scrap, somebody else will fly them without tormenting the passengers.
