O'Quiz!!!!
The new O'Quiz is up. I rocked, with a monster 8 of 10 performance against an average score, to date, of 4.63. Sadly, I am fooling myself with randomness, and fully expect to revert to form in future weeks.
Take the quiz, post your scores in the comments, and see if TigerHawk readers can raise that pathetic average.

I matched your 8 of 10 TH, but I am hardly your equal. the average stood at 4.3 following my efforts.

OK, only 7 as well here.
Via Ace, try this ISI quiz. It's 33 "Civic Literacy" questions generally about History and American Government, and the ISI states the average was 49%, and college educators (shockingly) scored 55%. Ace reports that elected officials only scored 44% correct, and that "The question that received the fewest correct responses, just 16 percent, tested respondents' basic understanding of economic principles, asking why 'free markets typically secure more economic prosperity than government's centralized planning?'" Very scary.
Not to brag, but (probably thanks to reading this blog) I scored 100%.
6 out of 10.
I did better on the ISI Quiz. Not 100%, but 29 out of 33 (87.88%).

I didn't help the average on the OQuiz... 5 out of 10. Sorry! I know nothing about pop culture or current economic idiots.
However, I did take the ISI quiz and got 32 of 33. I'm going to read the Gettysburg Address again tonight.

I took the "civic literacy" quiz over the weekend. I also scored 32.

I got a 9, but worse than that was the one I missed:
"7. Sidwell Friends, the prestigious private school chosen by the Obamas for their daughters, gives preferential admission treatment to whom?
You answered Children of politicians
The correct answer was Quakers
The school's web site states that "special consideration" may be given to The Religious Society of Friends, better known as Quakers"
I stand by my original answer.

Matched 8 of 10,
Average down to 4.2
As composer of the weekly O'Quiz, I am very proud to report a near-perfect score (with a few guesses) on the ISI:
You answered 32 out of 33 correctly — 96.97 %
Answers to Your Missed Questions:
Question #29 - B. a resident can benefit from it without directly paying for it

8 out of 10. Missed on Greenspan and People Mag: $14 million for some baby pictures, whooee!
Average stands at 4.23 after my effort.
Oh, and 32 out of 33 on the ISI. And I think that last question was flaky. Taxes per person = spending per person if overall taxes = overall spending? Might be a few missed steps in the middle.
2 out of 10.
However, I answer only those questions I actually know the answer (or am 90% sure).
Sorry to pull down your average.

I got 7 out of 10 on the O'Quiz. I missed #3, 4, and 7.
I got 32 out of 33 on the ISI quiz which I took a few days ago. I missed #33 because I confused debt with deficit.
