Annals of Communism: Eating the breedstock

If you can banish images of misery, poverty, and starvation from your mind, this is actually hilarious:

The man who breeds the world’s biggest bunnies has gotten over the drama of last year when, he claims, North Korea’s leaders ate the prize rabbits he sold them to set up breeding farms....

North Korea denied the allegation but Szmolinsky maintains that there has been no sign of the rabbits since a birthday banquet was held for North Korean leader Kim Jong Il in February 2007.

The North Korean Communists really do make the most decadent Roman emperors look like diligent Scandanavian technocrats by comparison.

I understand your point, but is it even fair to call this country a "communist" nation? It's way off any chart, in any continuum? Perhaps we just make up a whole new animal breed--or species?

No, Chris....
Communist is a perfectly accurate name for North Korea. There is no "way off the chart" for a political system that is at the root of so much failure and misery, while it protects the luxury of the top party members. Have you already forgotten the special stores in the USSR where only the VIP communist party members could shop? Or the executions of the captured Polish officer corps during WWII and the decades long attempt to blame it on the Germans?
Kim Jong Il- communist.
It has a ring of authenticity to it.
