American casualties in Iraq
Not only have American military deaths in Iraq continued to decline, but during the last three months of 2007 they were lower than any other three-month period since the invasion of March 2003. That fact might mean many different things in Iraq, but in America it means that the Democrats are no longer very interested in talking about the war. That is good, because one ought never conclude a counterinsurgency before its time.
