Would it be possible for the Big 10 to not play a conference game for some stupid trophy?

Hurray! Floyd is back and the trophy case is no longer empty. One more game and it should be bowl number seven in a row.

To anon (above): jealous much?

Trophy games rule. It is one of the charms of the Big Ten. Floyd of Rosedale, the Old Oaken Bucket, Paul Bunyon's Axe, the Heartland Trophy. These are great things.

The boarding school that TH and I attended had a thriving intramural football league that is now well over 100 years old. Hamill House played Kennedy House for a broken crutch. During a season many decades ago, the two houses played in a preseason scrimmage, in which one of the coach's legs when a player ran a sweep to the sideline and was tackled into the coach, breaking his leg. When the two teams played during the regular season, the same play developed with the same result, only this time the coach's crutch was broken. Since then the two houses play for the broken crutch, with the score of each game added, and the winner getting to display the crutch in its common room until the next game.

Yeah, trophy games rule, 'nuff said.

The Big 10 plays for these trohies in lieu of BCS trophies I think...
