Interestingly, I believe those are a more realistic and healthy body image for women to aspire to, rather than what is put forward today as the ideal of beauty. Ideas about what makes for a beautiful women have evolved since the 1920s (guessing that's when those photos may have been taken), but not necessarily for the better...

But, the mens room in a restaurant does seem a strange place for it, if you ignore that you are in Germany - they are much more open about nudity than we Americans. Heck, I remember seeing the bare-breasted women of girly mags on the newsstands in the train stations when I lived there all those years ago...

The really interesting revelation is not that they find those pictures acceptable to look at while going to the bathroom, but that they find them interesting to look at while going to the bathroom. I'd prefer to have the day's sports page posted up there instead.

I agree with Miss Ladybug's comment regarding the changed ideals of beauty. The women in the photos are not Rubenesque, nor would they be employable as runway models today -- just all, um, healthy and natural (notwithstanding that era's make-up and also the costumes, in the photos that have clothing). Maybe the photos should be in the female lavatory to let people know that it's OK to eat sensibly. Perhaps the restaurant would increase its desert orders.

Oddly enough, pictures like that don't offend me in the least, all the moronic comments I generally get about my "hating" porn to the contrary. I think they're beautiful.
