Even the Democrats Know We've Won

That's why they overwhelmingly rejected John Kerry's Resolution to withdraw from Iraq by the end of the year. That resolution was defeated in the Senate by a vote of 93 to 6. The Iraq victory bandwagon is gaining passengers -- that's what happens when you arrest the king, kill the heirs, draft a constitution, elect a democratic government and knock off the top gang leader.

It's called WINNING. And it's OBVIOUS.

In addition, members of the House are also debating a resolution (HR 861) that sure would look pretty good.

Resolved, That the House of Representatives–

(1) honors all those Americans who have taken an active part in the Global War on Terror, whether as first responders protecting the homeland, as servicemembers overseas, as diplomats and intelligence officers, or in other roles;

(2) honors the sacrifices of the United States Armed Forces and of partners in the Coalition, and of the Iraqis and Afghans who fight alongside them, especially those who have fallen or been wounded in the struggle, and honors as well the sacrifices of their families and of others who risk their lives to help defend freedom;

(3) declares that it is not in the national security interest of the United States to set an arbitrary date for the withdrawal or redeployment of United States Armed Forces from Iraq;

(4) declares that the United States is committed to the completion of the mission to create a sovereign, free, secure, and united Iraq;

(5) congratulates Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki and the Iraqi people on the courage they have shown by participating, in increasing millions, in the elections of 2005 and on the formation of the first government under Iraq’s new constitution;

(6) calls upon the nations of the world to promote global peace and security by standing with the United States and other Coalition partners to support the efforts of the Iraqi and Afghan people to live in freedom; and

(7) declares that the United States will prevail in the Global War on Terror, the noble struggle to protect freedom from the terrorist adversary.

Oh golly. What will the Deaniacs do if this passes -- in stark juxtaposition to the pathetic, abjectly defeat-ed/est Kerry Senate resolution? Will the lefties who "bought and paid for the Democratic Party" (moveon.org) be sufficiently discredited? Can the Democratic Party be reclaimed by its serious elements?

H/T: Powerline.

It is a political ploy, but an entirely appropriate one given the disingenuous way in which the opposition to the Iraq war has waged its own public relations battle.

A nice spit into the face of John Murtha and co. I love it. I hope it passes.

You're winning! It's so obvious!

Spit in the face of decorated veterans!

The Iraq Victory Bandwagon!

If you say it often enough, maybe it'll be true! Maybe if you spit on enough veterans, they'll stop disagreeing with you!

So now people who lost a loved one to terrorism AND veterans can say and do anything they want and it's ok? How do *I,* since I'm, you know, a veteran who has lost friends to terrorism, get into this club?

Murtha likes to use his military credentials as a shield, like no one can criticize him because he used to be in the Marines. Like he can say whatever he wants, no matter how insulting it is about the military, and it's ok because he used to be a Marine. Like he's some sort of hero Congressman whom the military looks up to, because he used to be a Marine.

Explain to me then why every Marine I know, and one soldier who used to be a Marine, hates his guts? Is it because he has completely turned his back on them, but pretends not to, making him a complete hypocrite? Hmm.

"We've lost Iraq, let's leave now and abandon the country to chaos and thereby make all those horrible casualties' (whom I love to talk about as if they were helpless victims, not warriors who volunteered) deaths meaningless! They can't do it, so let's quit trying! What? How dare you criticize me! I was in Vietnam!"

And then there was this little exchange.

" CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Let me ask you Mr. Murtha to give us some details about that. Draw us a picture of what happened at Haditha.

REP. JOHN “JACK” MURTHA: Well, I’ll tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we’re going to take care – we don’t know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and they actually killed civilians. And, and –

MATTHEWS:—was this My Lai? Was this a case of – when you say cold blood Congressman, a lot of people think you’re basically saying you got some civilians sitting in a room around a field and they’re executed.

MURTHA: That’s exactly it."

To hell with John Murtha.

Find something better to use than cheap sarcasm and the "you can't insult a veteran" argument. Maybe it makes you feel better, but it doesn't work on me.

Spit away, Dawnfire!

Those veterans fought so you could spit, spit, spit on them and their ridiculous opinions!
