Intramural desecration
Whether or we get demonstrations from the Muslim street, this is bound to increase the polarization of the Muslim world against the Sunni jihadis. Whether or not the usual paranoids try to pin the blame on the United States, this barbaric attack will certainly create enemies of the jihad. That is critical to our long-term objective, which is the discrediting of the jihadi ideology.

It looks like 95 Sunnis were killed in the first day of full-blown sectarian rioting over this. They may not be worldwide, but these are the demonstrations you apparently were anticipating.
