Madison?!?

According to the Social Security Administration, Madison was the third most popular name for girls born in 2004. Who are the people naming their baby girl "Madison"? I've met umpty-ump babies during the past couple of years, and not met one "Madison." Why is this a trend?

And when is "Jefferson" going to become a popular name for girls?

Apparently, folks in the South and on the Great Plains (according to the SSA's state-by-state breakdown, which is pretty interesting) -- M.
