"Truth"
AFP reports:
Meanwhile in Beirut, more than 10,000 opposition supporters demanded to know the "truth" about the Hariri killing, spelling out the word in Arabic with their bodies in a candlelight protest that began at nightfall.
Massing near Hariri's grave at Martyrs' Square, the demonstrators called for an international inquiry into the killing and for the perpetrators brought to justice.
A wonderful picture for inspiring times. But before you get too excited, consider the lede of the story:
Tens of thousands of Lebanese rallied to denounce a UN resolution demanding a Syrian military pullout as the government asserted its right to have a say in when the troops leave Lebanon.
The pro-Syrian gathering in the southern city of Nabatiyeh drew an estimated 200,000 people, while about 10,000 opposition supporters gathered by candlelight in Beirut demanding the truth about the killing of ex-premier Rafiq Hariri last month that triggered major political upheaval in Lebanon.
Syria's allies have powerful images, too. Apart from the Arab dictator picture, the kid looks like he's at an NFL game.
Can the Lebanese free themselves from Syria and govern themselves peacefully? We will learn the answer soon, I think.
