Roadside bombs spread to Kashmir

The Kashmir separatists may have started taking lessons from the Iraqi insurgents. Separatist militants are being blamed for a blast that killed one person and injured 25 on March 23rd, including three Indian army soldiers, in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir. The blast, caused by an improvised explosive device planted near a power utility station, was detonated as an Indian army van passed by, local police reported. This is the style followed by the Iraqi insurgents. In many case the Iraqi insurgents have caused similar devices against the America led coalition forces.

Link. In any war, the enemy's most effective and most publicized tactics will proliferate. Fortunately, the countertactics also proliferate. I hope the United States helps India respond to roadside bombs before they become a plague.

From what i remember; remote controlled roadside IED's have been employed by pakistan trained jihadi's operating in Kashmir for a quite a long time before iraq war. Actually because of the help of pakistani army explosives experts many kashmiri terorist are very good at using them.
It would be good if US could provide help with sophisticated jamming devices.
But it also has its own problems to think about in Iraq with soldiers complaining about inadequate armour plating to protect their fighting vehicles.

Well, right u are. Kashmiri insurgents have been using these road side IEDS for long and quite effectively too. Quite contasting to ur suggestin, i would advocate a speedy and just resoulution of the Kashmir issue rather than looking for Jamming devices. Lets not forget, insurgents will always hold an upper hand over the indian army..and please give the "Pakistan trained","Pakistan sponsored " cliches a break
