Why is Douglas Brinkley diving for cover?

Power Line wonders whether Kerry's hagiographer, Douglas Brinkley, is jumping ship. In particular, Brinkley is calling for Kerry to authorize the Pentagon to release his military records. Good luck, Doug.

When the guy who writes the big Kerry hero story decides his academic reputation is more important than electing the next President, you know the campaign is in serious trouble.

Clearly, poor communication skills rank high among the shortcomings of the Bush Administration. Unbelievably, the Democrats seem to have nominated an even less effective communicator than the incumbant. Remarkable.
