The shot heard round the country

Those among TigerHawk's esteemed readers who watched Connecticut beat Duke on Saturday night saw Chris Duhon's 38 foot three point shot off of one leg as time expired, which the announcers declared "meaningless." And meaningless it was for those of you pure of heart, for Duke was behind by four points and, accordingly, lost by one.

But if you were a Vegas bookie it made all the difference in the world, because, by virtue of that final bucket, Duke covered its spread. That one shot transferred between $30 million and $100 million from those who bet on the Huskies to the other side, depending on whose estimate you believe.

The best part was that Duhon clearly knew the game was lost, and just heaved it up there.
