Will Syria be next to capitulate on WMD?

Stratfor is reporting that Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al Sharaa said March 1 that Damascus was prepared to eliminate its weapons of mass destruction (WMD), but only under the supervision of the United Nations.

Sorry, no link without subscribing, but there may be other sources if you hunt around (I'm too busy on real work to do it right now).

Notice that there is -- in this limited statement, at least -- no corresponding requirement that Israel give up its WMD. If Farouq al Sharaa did indeed eliminate that requirement, we may be on the verge of another bloodless victory.

Does anybody else have anything?

UPDATE: There is another source for this story. CWCID: There's Nothing to See Here.
