Other precincts heard from: Regarding the "war on Christmas"

For reasons that are not entirely clear, erstwhile TigerHawk housemate, classmate, and lefty comment troll Christopher Chambers has become a go-to commentator for RT, Russia's English-language international cable news channel. Here he takes on the "war on Christmas." I actually agree with most of it, and regular readers who have engaged with Chris in the comments here may be amused.

I guess I've been velocitized by the internet - I clicked out at about 3:00. By that point, it seemed like an insightless treatment of a non-issue. Let me know how it came out, and don't worry about spoilers; I can assure you that you won't ruin it for me.

It seems to be an issue on the right. I thought it was a satire or teasing of these insufferable JesusFreaks to whom many conservative have hitched their wagons.

I like the hostess!

How does one go from a query regarding the liberal attack on a religious holiday to an answer describing American corporate greed?

I'm not surprised at the non-sequitur. I am surprised he kept it clean.

By Blogger Christopher Chambers, at Fri Dec 31, 12:29:00 AM:

So is there a liberal attack, "JPMcT" (can't you use a real name?), or is it all bunk wingnuts yank out of the closet each Christmas like tangled old lights and dusty ornaments?

I thought the analogy to other conservative urban fear myth--the forced bilingualism--was the bridge to greed and hypocrisy?

Anyhow, hope all had a Merry Christmas, and hoping for less fascism in the One-One. LOL

@Frank: yeah, Alyona's a hottie, even more so in person. That channel has an army of babes. Trivia--Alyona's mom is a 4 time Olympic pairs figure skating gold medalist, Irina Rodnina (who used to beat up on Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner back in the day)

RT reporters Lauren Lyster and Lucy Kavanov, and Alyona of course. I will overlook Chambers' politics for dates! Long live state-sponsored media!

"hoping for less fascism in the One-One"

As soon as he's impeached and convicted.

I don't for the same reason your buddy and our moderator doesn't. I also don't make a living at this...it is solely for my amusement. However, they are my real initials...so a clever person could do five minutes of Google work and stalk me if you care to....knock yourself out.

CC (by the way...is that YOUR real name???)As long as there are enough law school flunkouts to staff the ACLU, there will be a war on religion. The elite moon-bat left will always be with us...looking for "fairness" and "social justice"...even if it requires "revolution".

Of course, that may be on hold for a while until they find some more capitalists to pay for it intaxes.

((Yawn))

I'm a religious right nutcase, and I mostly agreed with Chambers on this.

He and the hostess get the history of the date wrong, but it's a common mistake:

However. I work for a state agency in human services, and the attitude toward any religious acknowledgement is somewhat hostile. I think "war" is a bit strong, even in that situation, though. But war in some sense does seem to be out there - see the second commenter, unable to muster even simple politeness, and clearly self-righteous about it. The numbers on folks like that are likely small, but they are increasingly not only allowed space - which is good FA rights, but given space, which is a different matter.

CC, you do ramble on. What was your point? Were you complaining about commercializatiin of a religious holiday, or about the establishment of religion, or about the history of Christianity?

"Georgetown University professor" is how he's introduced but the Georgetown website says he's a Lecturer at the School of Continuing Studies. Somebody should set Aloyna straight as those are not even remotely comparable.
