Civil disobedience

This is an excellent idea, and I'm going to do it. I encourage you to do it as well. The act in and of itself sends a message about our government's obsession with race and ethnicity.

This is an administration that doesn't blanch at personal attacks, retribution, and other highly unsavory tactics. Before Obama in voted out, he's going to make Nixon look like an amateur.

I'm not doing anything to make me appear on their radar as a malcontent. This doesn't mean I won't just make up stuff on the census form, it means I'm not going to make up stuff that would identify me as a threat.

Nice.

I did that on the last census.

I've done this for years, and if a significant number of us would refuse these racist labels the government would have to back down and start treating us more as individuals.

My response was to check #9 and write in "Human". Rather than be colorblind, our nannies are blinded by color.

As a matter of interest, more than 11% of people nominated themselves as "New Zealander" under the Other Ethnicity box in the 2006 census.

Their profile was:

Slightly more likely to be male, come from the Southern (rural) regions, higher median age, higher incomes, mostly NZ borne, fewer smokers, higher education levels and the women have had more children.

This response was five times that of the 2001 Census, so it might have been a response to a left of centre Govt growing more unpopular and became a passing itch to scratch.. time will tell.

Purple Avenger isn't crazy.
New York Governor David Patterson is being hounded from office over ethics charges. Apparently he went to a 2009 Yankees World Series game without paying for the ticket. That and he called the girlfriend of an aide involved in a domestic dispute. That's all they have. The New York Times has been driving this story.

Anything can be made an indictable offense these days, while we have people in positions of power we know have done worse.
Patterson's real crime is that he's an Enemy of the State. (1) He crossed Obama by not appointing Caroline Kennedy to be Senator -- this was promised payback to the Kennedy clan. (2) Andy Cuomo is in league with Obama and doesn't want a primary fight with Patterson. (3) Patterson has been a stand-up guy on New York's budget and hasn't done the bidding of the municipal unions.
Be afraid.
