A few more pictures from Lisbon

The Son and I had a great day exploring the city, visiting numerous museums, centers of erstwhile ecclesiastical importance, and drinking the grape, fortified and otherwise. We also took in Fado, and rode an elevator. Along the way, we took a few pictures.

The Elevador de Santa Justa, more than 100 years old, from one part of the town to another.

There are commies in evidence. Could somebody please explain why the hammer and sickle is held in higher regard than the swastika?

  1. First - Thanks for sharing.

Second - "Could somebody please explain why the hammer and sickle is held in higher regard than the swastika?"

1.) The Communists murdered fewer people.
2.) The Communists didn't spy on us for nuclear secrets.
3.) A Communist never said, "I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this — who will count the votes, and how."
4.) Communists never had to build walls protected by attack dogs to keep people from leaving.
5.) Communists never nationalized private property.

Aside from that, I got nothing.

That's not even remotely true. One number dwarfs the other, but not the direction you think.

  4. Sorry Red. I was sure the quote would give it away. There is at least one documented case of Joseph Stalin saying exactly that.

So just to be clear, in my opinion, communism is as bad as the German Nazi brand of socialism.
